ACCESSING

• EXISTING MATRIX ACCOUNT SOMEWHERE ELSE
  Search the room list for our server and join the one that you'd like. We are fully federated, so you should be able to access our rooms off of any other server.
• RECOMMENDED CLIENT
  We recommend using the Element client due to it being well established, covering multiple operating systems and it provides a multitude of features.
• SERVER URL
  Set your client to use the following server

  https://matrix.lltodd.family:443

• SELECT A USER NAME
  If using the Element client, enter

  @username

  If you're using another client, enter

  @username:matrix.lltodd.family

  Replace

  username

  with the username you want to use. Be sure to keep the format

  @username:matrix.lltodd.family

• SELECT A PASSWORD
  Please be sure that your password is long, not easy to guess, doesn't use any words from ANY dictionary and is unique to this server only.
• EMAIL ADDRESS AND CAPTCHA
  You will be required to provide a valid email address and complete a CAPTCHA in order to finish registering. If you provided a valid email address, you'll get an email with a link to complete the registration.
• PRIVACY POLICY AND RULES
  You will be required to agree to the Policy and Rules shown below in order to complete the registration process. Please be sure you read them.
• JOIN A ROOM
  Select a room to join. Some rooms are public, some are by invite only.

  The following files and links are provided for your reference. Please be sure to buy a physical copy of the Player's Handbook 5.5e (2024) or try to find an electronic version somewhere so you can reference it.

  • Subscribe to D&D Beyond for unlimited character sheets (choose the "Hero Tier"). You can also just create an account and create up to 6 characters for FREE if you don't want to subscribe.
  • Download Fantasy Grounds client (use "Free Demo"...I cover the costs of the game)

  • Please be aware that you can purchase the book from any store you want. I don't get any money for purchasing it from D&D Beyond.
  • IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN A GAME USING BEYOND, FANTASY GROUNDS, ROLL20, ETC:
    Be sure you have purchased an electronic copy of the Handbook FROM THAT SERVICE.
    DIGITAL RULEBOOKS PURCHASED ON ONE PLATFORM ARE ONLY FOR THAT PLATFORM. THEY WILL NOT TRANSFER AND YOU CAN'T DOWNLOAD THEM (LEGALLY).
  • 99% OF THE ONLINE GAMES THAT I'LL BE RUNNING WILL BE THROUGH BEYOND. You may use the website or Beyond Mobile, as long as you are also in the "Active Game" room on this server and are part of the conference call.
• PRIOR TO THE START OF A GAME
  The DM will provide a link to download any required files (usually a "Session 0" game expectations). The DM will also advise whether the game will be ran using the Player's Handbook 5.5e or the 2024 Free Rules. If the game will be ran through Beyond, you may obtain the "Free Rules (2024) through the D&D Beyond Marketplace.
• DURING THE GAME
  Players will enter the "Active Game" room. The DM will start a conference call with all of the players. Dice rolls will be done using whichever platform is being used to run the game (Beyond, Fantasy Grounds, etc). If it is a pen-and-paper game, a "dice bot" will be used to provide the rolls.
